Break-up can be painful and whether you have already experienced it or not, it is best to be prepared. Though there isn’t a certain cure for a broken heart, here are some useful solutions practiced by your beloved K-Drama characters: Note: This article contains spoilers about the listed series.

1. Shopping

“Yumi’s Cells” does away with the “sugar-coated concept” of K-Dramas and provides a realistic view of relationships. The protagonist - Kim YuMi (Kim GoEun) - is a young woman who except for her career ambitions, has a dream of finding true love. Even though she does eventually find a loving partner, they end up at crossroads. One of the elements of YuMi’s “post-breakup therapy” is shopping. Unfortunately, the broken heart doesn’t instantly heal afterward, but a new handbag hasn’t hurt anybody, right?

2. Karaoke

“Dear.M”’s Ma JooAh (Park HyeSu) experiences her first crush. Confused by the behavior of her love interest, she falls into despair and feels helpless. Fortunately, the girl isn’t alone, she has a best friend who she can always count on. Together with Cha MinHo (NCT’s JaeHyun) she sets off on their recuperating ritual. The duo goes to a noraebang (Korean karaoke room) to sing her heart out by covering emotional ballads. One adjustment to this advice we would recommend is choosing a more cheerful playlist, nevertheless, karaoke is always a fun time.

3. Clubbing

After finding out about her partner’s cruel betrayal, Yoon SongAh (Won JiA) in “She Would Never Know” receives support from her best friend Kim GaYoung (Kang HyeJin), who attempts to cheer her up with a night out. SongAh dances out her sadness and forgets for a moment about the painful event. Though this solution doesn’t have long-lasting effects, it will definitely stimulate you with good energy, and who knows - maybe a charming boy like Chae HyunSeung (SF9’s RoWoon) will also show up in the crowd.

4. Participating in a show about parted couples

Surprised? Yes, “Lovestruck In The City” is an unconventional drama that introduced 3 (fictional) couples who describe their previous relationships and post-breakup conclusions. The concept gives each of the characters an opportunity to reflect on the past and mature. Though, some stories are better left forgotten, “Lovestruck In The City” allows the characters to heal their broken hearts, and forgive each other. Moreover, it teaches the viewers about the complexity of human connections and the life lessons they bring.

5. Writing an honest letter

If you have already seen “Twenty Five Twenty One” you must have joined the club of the broken-hearted viewers. After Baek YiJin’s (Nam JooHyuk) departure to New York, the couple grows apart and eventually split up. Frustrated by the reality, they blame each other in a fierce argument. Later on, they realize that they spoke out of anger and regret they didn’t end things right. Na HeeDo (Kim TaeRi) decides to write a letter to her ex-boyfriend explaining what her real feelings are and ending the relationship in a proper way. Although the ending of the drama gave us a hard time, the farewell of the lead couple showed the growth both the characters went through.

6. Creating a novel

“Doom At Your Service” proves that creativity and productivity are great ways to get over your past love. Na JiNa (Shin DoHyun) is a web writer who has nonfading feelings for her first love - Lee HyunKyu (Kang TaeOh). She begins to collaborate with his friend, editor Cha JooIk (Lee SooHyk), with whom she shared a kiss years before, right after splitting up with her previous boyfriend. The young writer romanticizes her first relationship and makes Lee HyunKyu a protagonist of her novel. Fortunately, Cha JooIk convinces her to change her approach toward the work, which influences not only her writing but also her love life. Through her professional life, Na JiNa frees herself of the past and makes her heart available for new feelings. Which advice did you like the most?
