While “Direction” (featuring veteran artist GARY, who has become a mentor to TRADE L) is a melodic introspection on feeling aimless, “Tango” is a riled up, posse-cut featuring CAMO and Ourealgoat. TRADE L, the rap moniker for teen artist Lee SeungHoon, is already a household name at the age of 17. Known for his lyrical finesse and relentless flow, TRADE L is one of the youngest, rising stars in Korea’s burgeoning hip-hop scene and is the crowned champion of MNET’s High School Rapper 4, a popular, televised hip-hop competition.
Up until today’s release of his long-awaited EP [Time Table – The Trip], TRADE L had only released music on SoundCloud. It is there that Jay Park first discovered the Suwon artist. In July 2020, at 16 years old, TRADE L signed an exclusive deal with Park’s H1GHR MUSIC label, making him the youngest act on the roster. The following month, TRADE L debuted on H1GHR MUSIC’s double compilation album, [H1GHR : RED TAPE] and [H1GHR : BLUE TAPE]. Along with standout features on the hit singles, “The Purge’’ and “How We Rock,” TRADE L earned his stripes by appearing on 10 tracks, delivering quotable verses for more than half of the project. Earlier this summer, he was a part of Korea Tourism Organization’s Feel the Rhythm of Korea campaign, where he spotlighted the town of Suncheon in a hip-hop reinterpretation of the Korean folk song, “Sae Taryeong.” This month, he is featured in a collaborative song for the movie Copshop.
