There are K-Pop fans across the globe who share the same passion. But on online platforms, it is hard to know about each other’s stories and K-Pop life. Even if we are in the same fandom, it is hard to get to know each other. So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias. Lexie is the next fan to answer our questions. She is from the Philippines and is a fan of BLANK2Y, and particularly of YoungBin. Check out how she entered the fandom, the songs and content she advises to new fans, and much more! Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from? Hello! I am Lexie from the Philippines. How and when did you enter the fandom? I was literally just scrolling on my Twitter when I saw a tweet about YoungBin debuting under KeyStone Entertainment. Since I’ve been a fan of YoungBin ever since his days with “I-LAND”, I looked up the group right away and waited for the their debut. What are the reasons why this rookie group is your favorite group? Well, there is no particular reason why I considered them as one of my favorite groups. All I can say is that they are really talented. What do you think differentiates this rookie group from the others? To be honest, I am a multistan and I think they differ from others, in terms of the way they bond and of course, their songs. Their songs are pretty much unique yet catchy. Who caught your attention at first and why? Did you know any members prior to their debut? Of course, YoungBin. He is literally the reason why I got into them. As a Youngbean (YoungBin’s fans), we waited for a year for him to debut so we are really happy when we heard the news. Do you have a bias yet? If yes, tell us why. Well, you probably already know who is my bias. Yes, it’s none other than YOUNGBIN. Haha! If you don’t know, he is really a talented person. He can sing and dance really well. You might want to listen to his single ‘Yellow’ which was released prior his debut. I am really telling you, it is really the best song you can ever hear. Aside from being talented, he is also a sweet person. There was this time when I asked my K2YWE friend to relay my message to YoungBin during her fancall saying how happy we are to see him again. My friend then showed him the message and YoungBin’s reaction was the purest. He kept on smiling and thanking us as if there’s no tomorrow. He is so sweet! Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans? I would like to recommend ‘Thumbs Up’ as for the title track and ‘Constellation’ for the B-side track. Oh! By the way, ‘Constellation’ is a fan song from BLANK2Y so I think everyone will like it. Please listen to it! ‘Constellation’ is definitely a chef’s kiss!
Can you recommend a fancam, V Live, cover video, cover dance, or other from your favorite group or bias? Oh sure! If you are a fan of Louis and YoungBin, you can watch their cover of NCT DREAM’s ‘Be There For You’. Their voices are so soothing to the ears and yes, I think I contributed nearly half of the views lmao just kidding! Do you have a dream subunit/unit? YES! I would like them to collaborate with THE BOYZ. You know, they did a dance cover of one of their songs so seeing a collaboration would be great. Describe them in 5 words. THE MOST PUREST KPOP GROUP. Would you like to see your bias group in variety shows? What type of variety show would you like them to do? As most of the members are funny, I would like to see them at a comedy show.
